FIESTA CLASSES

 

 

The Fiesta hosted classes and lectures for the first time during the 2009 AFAF.  The classes were held on site

Below is the list of classes organized by guilds and presented at the 2009 Fiesta. ) 

Fiesta Class Schedule

  Thursday, May 21st

10 am to 1 pm

Quilting Class-Woven Stars. Instructor: Sally Schneider. The student will create either a 39” square wall quilt or a 34” x 49” wall hanging or table runner.  

1:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Machine Knitting. Demonstration of how to use a knitting machine. Desert Designs Machine Knitting Club.

1 pm to 4 pm

Hand Embroidered Dragonfly Bookmark/Nametag (No Registration required). Instructor: Rita Pittman-Curry.

5 pm to 6:30 pm

Learning to spin. Instructor: Sue Goudy. Learn the basic techniques of spinning.

 

Friday, May 22nd

10 am to        1 pm

Double Serpentine Rainbow Bracelet. Instructor: Judy Walker. You will create an amazing rainbow colored bracelet of fire polished crystals. It is easy and fast – most students will complete the bracelet in class and wear it home.

1:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Learn to Make a Fleece Jacket. Instructor: Melissa Sonnen. Learn to make a fleece jacket, no matter what size you wear, using your own personal body measurements.  Two audience members will go home with a jacket that we all construct in class.  Everyone will receive instructions and take away their personal measurement sheet.

   

5 pm to 6:30 pm

Mixed media postcards. Instructor: Elizabeth Dawson. The class will create beautiful mixed media and fabric postcards that you can mail.  Several techniques with a variety of materials will be used to create one of a kind pieces of art.

       

      

 

 

Saturday, May 23rd

10 am to        1 pm

Learning to Weave. Instructor: Nancy Crowley. The weaving process will be explained and each student will get the chance to weave on a table loom.

1:30 pm to 4:00 pm

Make and Take Fabric Postcards. Instructor: Carol A. Bell. Making 4 x 6 fabric postcards is a relaxing way to express your creativity by using up scraps, play with embellishments, and experiment with mixed media.  They can be appliquéd, beaded, embossed, embroidered, painted, pieced, quilted, stitched, thread painted or stamped.  In this class you will make two 4 x 6 works of art using various techniques which can be mailed.
